Energy Saving Tips

1.  
Turn your thermostat down!
Reducing your thermostat by just 1° could cut your heating bills by up to 10%

Ensuring your hot water cylinder is adequately insulated will ensure the water maintains at the temperature set and does not waste energy

Loft insulation
Heat rises, so by ensuring your loft is has at least 270mm of loft insulation will avoid unnecessary heat loss through your roof, and could save you up to 15% off your heating bills

Use low energy light bulbs, and turn off when not in use

Check your hot water temperature/Install Thermostat
Your hot water doesn't need to be any hotter than 60°C/140°F, so reduce the temperature on your hot water cylinder to avoid unnecessary heating and re-heating of water. Ensure your hot water cylinder has a thermostat so you can set the temperature to the required level

Always turn appliances off
Appliances left on standby mode are still using a lot of power, so ensure appliances are switched off properly

Reduce your water usage
By only using the water you need to fill up the kettle or by switching your washing machine or dishwasher to half-load or an economy setting will reduce both your electric and water usage

Fix leaks or drips
A leaking or dripping tap is wasting water and costing you money, so ensure all leaks and drips are fixed as soon as possible
